Cache is an object inspired by Swedish Jördkällare (traditional earth cellars), which remain dotted in and around the landscape of the Dalsland region today.
Food waste is continuing to be a global problem and by storing food correctly, the freshness is extended and the food preserved.
Cache is a piece that conserves and helps cool your vegetables thanks to the evaporation of water and porosity of its ceramics. Moreover, it creates a podium the food deserves.
Most vegetables get too cold in refrigerators but go bad quickly when stored outside the refrigerator. Your (homegrown) fruits and vegetables are stored in a piece of furniture that makes for an excellent display, and by making the act of storing your vegetables more of a ritual, it encourages people to appreciate food in a new way.
Cache is part of my exam work at HDK Academy of design and crafts, University of Gothenburg.
